We Inspire Learning
Lisa Lange
My favorite teacher in college, Bea Kranz, once said,  “You know you are doing a good job teaching, when it’s your students who start asking the questions.”  Twenty years later, here we are.  By opening up this web page you have asked the question, “What will my teacher be like?  What does she have in store for me?”

The first thing you must know about me is that I am the youngest of eleven children and eight of us are teachers.  Genes aside, I love teaching.  I mean, I really love it!  I set up situations for kids to work through problems or discuss ideas, and then I watch.  Most of the work actually happens long before the kids arrive.  After that, it’s pure fun.  Students debate one another, make decisions together, and ask questions.  They create and deliberate.

Everyone brings something “to the table.”  The students bring their individuality, humor and talent.  I bring experience as well as the desire to keep learning.  I have a BS degree from Moorhead State University and MA from Fordham University.   For 17 years I have taught in Moorhead, MN, Manhattan, NY, and Minneapolis.  This is my fourth year at Barton Open.

When I’m not teaching, you can often find me taking a modern dance class, reading a book, or going for a walk with friends.  I also love to play cards and travel with my family.  My husband is Jim and my boys are Erik (13) and Danny (11).

Anything else you care to know?  Just ask!
